Derek Sanderson Jeter: The famous former baseball player

Derek Sanderson Jeter is a famous former baseball player from the United States. He was born in 1974. He played in the position of shortstop for 20 seasons representing the team of ‘New York Yankees’in the MLB (Major League Baseball). He had been the Champion in World Series for 5 times.  He is regarded as the sole reason for the success of the Yankees during the decades of 1990s and 2000s. He proved to be the jewel in the Yankee camp for his various skills in hitting, fielding, base-running and leadership.

Jeter was passionate about the game of baseball since he was a child. The interest in the game evoked when he used to watch the Yankees play along with his grandparents. The former Yankee star Dave Winfield became his initial inspiration. He played baseball both in high school and in college. He was drafted in 1992 and had his first professional appearance in 1995 for the Yankees. 

Jeter has won numerous accolades in his career like All-Star Selections along with awards pertaining to awards like Gold Glove, Silver Slugger, Hank Aaron along with Roberto Clemente. He was been awarded these trophies not once, but many times in his career.  His impeccable performance had earned him the position of the captain of the team since 2003 till he retired in 2014. He is one of the most sought after sportsmen in the nation, which is proven by his immense involvement in various brand endorsements. Nevertheless, he has won millions of hearts with his playing skills.
