Marc-André ter Stegen

Marc-André ter Stegen was born on 30 April 1992. He is a German professional football player. Currently he is playing for the FC Barcelona, as a goalkeeper. From 1996 to 2010 he played for the Borussia Mönchengladbach. This was his youth career. During his senior career, Ter Stegen played for Borussia Mönchengladbach II (2009-2010); Borussia Mönchengladbach (2011-2014) and since 2014 he is playing for Barcelona. He also plays for the German national team (U16-21) and from 2012 he plays for the German’s provisional squad.

After the departures of José Manuel Pinto and Víctor Valdés, Ter Stegan was announced (on 19 May 2014) as the new goalkeeper of the FC Barcelona. After a few days from the announcement, he signed a 5 year contract that will keep him at this club until 2019. The price of this transfer was £9.7 million, and a buy-out clause is £63.3 million. At that time, Ter Stegen announced that he is very happy due to his transfer, and that it was a right move! His competitive debut was on the Camp Nou in the match Barcelona-APOEL Nicosia, in the UEFA Champions League, where his team won with a 1-0 score. Since then he played in 11 matches, conceding 8 goals and keeping clean sheets 6 times.

In 2009 he was a part of the winning team in the U17 (under 17 years old) Europe Championship. His debut for the German’s provisional squad was on 26 May, 2012, in a friendly match against Switzerland. German lost with the score of 5-3. Ter Stegen is one of the best German players, and one of the best goalkeepers in the world!
